Why call the gospel "free"?
This site is called The Free Gospel. The word free runs all through the Bible’s description of salvation:
being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, — Romans 3:24
He who desires, let him take the water of life freely. — Revelation 22:17
Free does not mean cheap
Very little in life is truly free. But God’s salvation cannot be bought with money or earned by good works. If we could earn it, it would be wages we deserved, not grace.
Salvation is free not because it is worth little, but because it is worth so much that no one could ever pay for it. Jesus paid the full price on the cross. What is left for us is to receive it.
Freely received, freely given
When Jesus sent out his disciples, he told them: “Freely you received, so freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)
We received this grace freely ourselves, so we want to pass the good news on to you freely. This site sells nothing and does not collect your personal information. The Bible texts here are in the public domain: read them, copy them, and share them with anyone you care about.
